Day 1: Wednesday 12th August, 2020

Arrive in Papua New Guinea

  • Pepeta tour staff will warmly welcome you at Jackson's International Airport, Port Moresby. They will assist with your luggage and transfer to your 4 star hotel accomodation. 

​

Day 2: Thursday 13th August, 2020

Domestic flight to Mt Hagen

  • Your Pepeta tour guide will assist with hotel check out, arrange your airport transfers and check in to your Mt Hagen accommodation.    

  • After you settle in your room you have the rest of the afternoon to relax and explore the surroundings.

Day 3: Friday 14th August, 2020

Attend Paiya Mini Show

  • After breakfast, you will attend Paiya Mini Show with your tour guide from Pepeta PNG. You will take an hour bus ride to Paiya village.

  • You learn about diverse sing sings and traditional costumes and experience a once in a life-time show of different tribal groups in one place, showcasing their cultural sing sings and traditional costumes (bilas).

  • You can take photographs of different dances, costumes and face/body paintings.

  • A variety of local art and crafts will be on sale on site and this is a great opportunity to learn about the local artefacts or even buy something to take home.

Day 4: Saturday 15th August, 2020

Attend the Mt Hagen Show day 1

  • Attend the Mt Hagen show day 1 with your Pepeta PNG tour guide.

  • You will experience colorful, lively and magnificent headdresses, face paintings, masks and body paintings from many different tribes, all at one venue. The colors, chants and rhythmic movements are a proud display of the cultural diversity of tribes in Papua New Guinea who still live their traditional ways, they call it "pasin tumbuna" (the ways of our ancestors).​

Day 5: Sunday 16th August, 2020

Attend the Mt Hagen Show day 2

  • Attend the Mt Hagen show day 2 with your Pepeta PNG tour guide.

  • ​Enjoy the last day of show and take back many happy memories from this once in a life time experience.
  • ​A variety of local art and crafts will be on sale on site and this is a great opportunity to learn about the local artefacts or even buy something to take home.

Day 6: Monday 17th August, 2020

Flight to Port Moresby

  • A morning flight to Port Moresby and then an afternoon flight to Rabaul or if you choose to do Mt Hagen only, your tour ends in Port Moresby. 

  • Pepeta PNG staff will greet you at Port Moresby Airport and assist with transfer to your onward flight to Rabaul or those not continuing to Rabaul will be assisted with transfer to your hotel accommodation or your homeward flight.

  • Your local host will meet you at Kokopo Airport and assist with transfer to your accommodation.

Day 7: Tuesday 18th August, 2020

Full day tour of Rabaul/Kokopo region

  • Group tour with experienced local guide: A full day, land tour of Rabaul/Kokopo region visiting some of the sites steeped in the history that has shaped the East New Britain of today. In an air-conditioned vehicle you will visit old Rabaul town, learning about WWII history and the devastating 1994 volcanic eruptions before heading into Kokopo, the new town, to experience arguably the best market in PNG and visiting the WWII museum.

  • One of the highlights of this tour will be a 45 minutes hike each way up to the top of Mt Tavurvur, currently the most active volcano in Rabaul. Once on the top the view is spectacular with stunning view of Rabaul township, Simpson Harbour , Matupit Island and the crater view of Tavurvur volcano itself.

  • The tour will stop for lunch at an agreed time.

  • You will return to the resort in time to freshen up for dinner.​

Day 8: Wednesday 19st August, 2020

Water Activities

  • Dolphin swim and snorkeling at WW2 Japanese Zero fighter.​

    • An experience not to be missed! After a short boat ride you will arrive at a place where the dolphins congregate every day. Your friendly guides will assist you to get in the water with your snorkeling gear and while holding a rope attached to the boat, see these amazing animals swimming playfully alongside you. 

    • Following the dolphin swim you will be taken to the shallow water site where a Japanese Zero fighter was shot down during World War 2. Here you can snorkel in the clear water and view the remains of the crashed plane.

  • In the afternoon you have a free choice of activities including kayaking, snorkeling, swimming in the pool, fish feeding or visit the Kokopo market.

Day 9: Thursday 20th August, 2020

Optional activities

  • Optional day tour activities available from the resort, such as:

    • Small Pidgin Island trip snorkel/swim (half day/full day option)​

    • ​Simpson harbor/ Bee Hive island cruise.

    • Scuba Diving or snorkeling

    • Village/Island tour (half/full day options)

Day 10: Friday 21st August, 2020

Flight to Port Moresby & depart for home

  • An early morning flight back to Port Moresby to meet your international flight home

  • Pepeta PNG staff will meet you at Jackson's International Airport and assist with transfer to your international flight.

  • If time permits a breakfast/lunch at a nearby cafe will be arranged.
