What to look forward to

Day 1 – Monday: Upon your arrival in Papua New Guinea, you’ll be greeted with a warm embrace by our dedicated Pepeta tour staff at Jackson’s International Airport in Port Moresby. They will extend their helping hands to assist with your luggage and ensure a seamless transfer to the Holiday Inn Express in Port Moresby.

Day 2 – Tuesday: You’ll catch a morning flight to Wewak, where your local host will personally await your arrival at Wewak Airport. They will be at your service to ensure a smooth and welcoming transfer to your hotel.

Later in the day, prepare for your thrilling Sepik River adventure as your dedicated tour guide accompanies you on a shopping excursion. Together, you’ll gather vital supplies and involve yourself in the local preparations required for the upcoming journey along the Sepik River.

Day 3 – Wednesday: The adventure kicks off with a comfortable 4WD vehicle ride to the village of Pagwi. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to discover an array of locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables, and you can even select some for your own enjoyment.

Your expedition continues as you transition to a motorized dugout canoe, the ideal mode of transport for your venture further upstream. Your ultimate destination is the Wagu village, where you’ll be welcomed with warmth and open arms.

As the day comes to an end, savor a delectable dinner at the Wagu Guesthouse, where hospitable locals will enhance your cultural immersion. Additonally, for those seeking an extended evening experience, there’s the opportunity to engage in activities like crocodile spotting and fishing, available upon request and guaranteed to create lasting memories.

Day 4 – Thursday: Your fourth day starts by going on a journey by boarding a motorized canoe, allowing you to explore neighboring villages along the Sepik River. Upon your arrival, you’ll be greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality, as the local residents take pride in showcasing their honored traditions and ways of life.

During your visit, you’ll have the privilege of entering the grounds of the Sepik Haus Tambaran, a sacred Spirit House, where you’ll gain insight into the extraordinary ceremonies that take place within its walls. As a special treat, the villagers will enchant you with a traditional dance performance, a truly unforgettable experience.

The Sepik region is known for its masterful artisans, particularly skilled in the craft of carving. Here, you’ll have the unique opportunity to witness these talented craftsmen at work, and if you desire, you can acquire one-of-a-kind, handcrafted masks, and other exquisite artifacts as timeless mementos of your journey.

Day 5 – Friday: On day 5 you will discover a variety of optional morning activities, beginning with an early morning bird-watching session before breakfast. Explore the world of local avian species, including the iconic bird of paradise.

Following this start to your day, you’ll go on a full-day tour that encompasses a thrilling rainforest hike and a visit to a serene waterfall, offering an invigorating opportunity for a refreshing swim. As the late afternoon approaches, you’ll venture to the enchanting Heinstein River, where you’ll join local experts for an authentic fishing experience.

Day 6 – Saturday: On the sixth day of your trip you will have the freedom to explore Wagu Village at your leisure. You can opt for relaxation and rejuvenation or collaborate with your host to plan an exciting activity.

Optional Day Tour: If you’re looking for a unique adventure, consider our optional day tour, offering you the opportunity to participate in traditional hunting practices alongside local men. This extraordinary journey guarantees an authentic and enriching experience.

Day 7 – Sunday: Capture the final moments of early morning bird watching before going on a full day of adventure. Your journey will commence with a serene motorized canoe ride to Pagwi, followed by a comfortable vehicle transfer to reach your destination, the Wewak Boutique Lodge, where you can check in and relax.

Day 8 – Monday: On the penultimate day, you’ll catch a domestic flight to Port Moresby, with a late morning departure ensuring a comfortable journey. Upon your arrival, a member of our team will be there to warmly welcome you at the airport and facilitate your seamless transfer to your hotel.

In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy a journey through the city with a guided tour that includes a visit to the Nature Park and an exploration of the urban landscape. As the day turns to evening, savor an exquisite dinner experience overlooking the picturesque Fairfax Harbor, culminating in a perfect end to your day of exploration.

Day 9 – Tuesday: As your adventure comes to a close, conclude your stay with a seamless hotel check-out experience, expertly assisted by one of our team members, who will ensure your smooth transition to the airport.
